Increase of product quality and production performance

What are the benefits of inspection and checking? Simply sorting of good and defect products after the last production stage is the traditional domain of inspection. It's aim: providing higher product quality. Mostly this is driven by saving of labor cost . However, a major benefit of inspection is  increase of production performance if the data of an inspection system can be used for gaining insight into the production/manufacturing process.
