Last decade, the imaging and machine vision industry has become a matured business. Nowadays off-the-shelf cameras, illumination, software packages and configurable machine vision systems are commonly around. Easy to deploy for general task as parts inspection, pick&placement and alignment jobs.

The current challenges are in more complex issues like situational awareness, assessment of biological samples (seeds, plants, tissues, animals) and unconditioned/harsh environments. This is the playing field for IMIX.
